2007 Outreach Activities

The Grande Ronde Model Watershed celebrated Arbor Day throughout the month of April with various activities that resulted in the planting of 1,000 Douglas-fir and ponderosa pine tree seedlings. Other educational activities this spring included the La Grande Middle School Sixth Grade Outdoor School with the 130 students. The students were shown wildlife replicas and learned about animal tracks, scat, teeth and skulls. Wallowa Resources hosted its annual Watershed Festival at the Enterprise Fairgrounds. The GRMW helped visitors make fish prints. The various materials used during these educational activities were purchased with funds through an Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board educational grant. The Summer 2007 issue of the Ripples has an article about GRMW outreach activities.
